Ballot drawings

Candidates for the Nov. 4 general election gathered Thursday at the Columbia County Courthouse to draw for ballot positions. Gene Ravenscraft and Mary Rogers, members of the Columbia County Election Commission, conducted the drawings. Several local candidates were on hand to draw for ballot positions. Candidates who were not present had ballot positions drawn for them by other representatives.

There will be one contested race for county office on the Nov. 4 ballot, for the county treasurer. There are contested races for mayor in Magnolia, Waldo, McNeil, and Emerson. In Magnolia, McNeil and Emerson, the incumbent mayor is being opposed. There are two contested races for aldermen, one in Magnolia and one in Waldo.
